Navigating Midlife?
 Welcome Menopause!

This is my journey on embracing transformation and empowerment

Entering midlife can bring significant changes in a woman’s life in many ways.  The transformational experience has been known as ‘Menopause’ which has physical and emotional changes. Are you ready for it?

I hate to break to you but, it is a time when hormonal fluctuations, weight gain, changing skin, hair and nails, mood swings, hot flashes, and shifting sex drive become part of the new normal. Or is it?

In this blog, I will bring you on my journey where I explore and discover how to embrace midlife wellness. I decided to seek professional guidance, and this is what I learnt.

 1. Embracing Change

You wake up one morning and BANG who is this person in the mirror and you ask yourself “why do I look and feel this way?” Wrinkly face and turkey neck, extra tire belly fat, an arm wave, saggy butt, grey hair, hot flashes, shifting sex drive etc… Midlife has arrived! Change is not easy for anyone, yet we are equipped to adapt. What this meant for me was, I needed to find a way to embrace changes that I could not control. The first thing I did was stop and reflect upon the life I lived and be grateful to have arrived at this moment. With many years ahead of me, I realize I cannot stop the clock however, there must be healthy solutions to gracefully accept these changes that come with menopause. First things first, be grateful you made it thus far!

2. Hormones in Flux

Holy Tropical Island! Know this: those hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings and plummeting sex drive are real! If you have sought traditional medical advice and have been told your hormones are in normal range based on your age it does not mean optimal, know that there are alternatives. Which leads up to point 3, seeking professional guidance.

3. Seeking Professional Guidance

Here I am embracing the change, but not feeling optimal. So, I decided to be pro active to seek alternative professional guidance, a functional doctor who specializes in women’s health and wellness. Empower yourself! You must be your advocate with your health. Period!

Personally, I have been struggling with my own health for 3 years.  I found my way, to Dr Susans who specializes in women’s health. She is the founder of the Complete Midlife Wellness Center, Houston, Texas. Online you can listen to her informative podcast and video’s. These are the links below.

I highly recommend being proactive with your health, what I discovered has changed my life. Now I am in the driver’s seat!  My next blog I will share what to expect when seeking a Functional doctor.Know this, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
